About Chandra
Chandra Middleton’s work as a Senior Research Fellow seeks to speed the adoption of solutions to climate change. As the lead on Forging Resilience, she builds tools that develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence of Americans to adopt solutions in their communities and works closely with partners to disseminate these tools to cultural institutions across the U.S. During her tenure as executive producer of Climate Break, a short podcast produced largely by UC Berkeley students, she aired over 125 episodes that shared stories of climate progress and interviews with climate innovators.
Prior to joining CLEE, Chandra earned a doctorate degree in Anthropology from the University of California, Irvine. Her ethnographic research with U.S. federal civil servants examined how government officials practice democracy, with a focus on the role of knowledge and expertise in rulemaking. She has also advised credit unions on the role of artificial intelligence in banking and studied virtual cultures during the COVID-19 pandemic.
As an attorney in Washington, D.C., Chandra worked on environmental issues and advocated for the rights of victims of crime within the criminal justice system. She maintains a District of Columbia bar membership.
