GrizzlyCorps is an environmental workforce development program housed under CLEE, in partnership with California Volunteers and AmeriCorps. Our program sends recent college graduates into rural communities across California to promote regenerative agri-food systems, forest and fire resilience, and watershed health and management. We aim to expand the capacity of local organizations leading community resilience and environmental action projects on the ground, while empowering the next generation of environmental leaders.
Each year, GrizzlyCorps sends dozens of Fellows to placement sites in forest and farm communities throughout the state for 11 month service terms. Our Fellows have been placed with a variety of partners, including UC cooperative extensions and natural reserves, resource conservation districts, nonprofits, tribal organizations, and other community organizations and agencies. Each Fellow implements unique capacity-building projects that aim to improve the impact of these organization’s work, build local community resilience, and respond to pressing environmental issues. During their service term, GrizzlyCorps Fellows also gain hands-on professional development skills and certifications that prepare them for future careers in the natural resources field. Current GrizzlyCorps Fellows are working on projects which range from community outreach, education, and research, to wildlife conservation, supporting non-English speaking growers, carbon farming, and wildfire mitigation plans, as well as a variety of other fieldwork and administrative projects.
