About the Initiative

Tackling climate change will rely on transforming the electricity sector to zero-carbon power sources while shifting transportation, buildings, and other sectors from fossil fuels to electrification—placing greater demands on the grid at the same time as wildfire-related risks and deferred infrastructure improvements increase costs and threaten reliability. Growing concern over data center power use, federal policy interventions, and utility legal liability further complicate the issue.

CLEE’s research focuses on state-level policy approaches to ensure electricity is affordable for Californians while promoting long-term progress toward climate and energy equity goals.
