A Guide to the Major Climate and Environmental Excerpts in the Project 2025 Report
Overview
Project 2025, titled “Mandate for Leadership: The Conservative Promise,” presents a comprehensive collection of conservative proposals on critical topics related to U.S. energy and environmental policy. Despite receiving significant media attention, few have read the entire 900+ page document or mapped its potential implications for climate change and environmental impacts if major portions are enacted.
Project 2025 was created by over 100 conservative organizations, reflecting an increasingly organized and emergent assault on principles of representative democracy. It calls for a significant and often radical overhaul of the federal government, with a particular focus on agencies and actions connected to climate change and environmental and energy law and policy. Amidst a new presidential administration, we anticipate that many of these proposals will continue to be put forward and underlying legal theories will be pursued.
This document includes excerpts from Project 2025 addressing government responses to climate change and environmental impacts. These excerpts span 41 pages and include comments for those interested in a deeper understanding. For a quick overview, we have also outlined major themes and the corresponding page numbers in both the report and this document.
