Transitioning from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources is one of the central challenges of the climate effort. It is far more complex than just developing and adopting clean technologies: an effective transition will encompass a viable pathway for incumbent industries, new workforce opportunities, stable local government revenue, community benefits, and environmental protection.
CLEE’s work is focused on developing feasible, equitable policy scenarios for this transition with a focus on refinery and extraction communities in California and around the US.
As part of this project, CLEE has launched a multi-part webinar series to focus on the long-term future of the oil and gas industry in California and beyond. The series features conversations with a range of guests looking at this topic from a wide variety of perspectives.
